سراب

سراب   ⇐ گرمیوں میں آپ نے اکثر مشاہدہ کیا ہو کہ کچھ فاصلے سے سڑک کی سطح ایسی چمکتی نظر آتی ہے جیسے کہ اس پر پانی پڑا ہو۔ زمین کے قریب ہوا زیادہ گرم ( لٰہذا کم کثافت کی ) ہوتی ہے۔

Mirage In the summer, you may have often noticed that from a distance, the surface of the road looks shiny as if there is water on it. The air closer to the ground is warmer (and therefore less dense).

ترچھی شعاعیں

سورج کی ترچھی شعاعیں ہوا کی مختلف کثافت کی تہوں سے گزرتے ہوئے مسلسل منعطف ہوتی ہیں۔

Incandescent rays

The sun’s oblique rays are continuously refracted as they pass through layers of different air densities.

انٹرنل ریفلیکشن

بالآخر اس قدر ترچھی ہو جاتی ہیں کہ ان کا ٹوٹل انٹرنل ریفلیکشن ہوتا ہے اور اوپر مڑ جاتی ہیں اب دیکھنے والا زمین سے اوپر چیزوں اور آسمان کا عکس دیکھتا ہے۔ چونکہ وہ ایسا عکس صرف پانی میں دیکھنے کا عادی ہے اس لئے اسے پانی کا دھوکا ہوتا ہے۔

Internal Reflection

Eventually they become so slanted that they undergo total internal reflection and are turned upwards. Now the observer sees the reflection of objects and the sky above the ground. Since he is used to seeing such reflections only in water, he is deceived by the water.

منشور

سل کیلئے شعاع وقوع اور خارجہ کی سمتوں کا مقابلہ کیجئے ۔ اگر چہ یہ ایک دوسرے سے تھوڑی سی ہٹی ہوئی ہیں ۔ پھر ان کے رخ ایک ہی ہیں ۔ اب منشور سے گزرنے والی شعاع کو شکل میں دیکھئے ۔

Manifest

For the cylinder, compare the directions of the incident and outgoing rays. Even though they are slightly different from each other, they are in the same direction. Now, look at the ray passing through the manifest in the figure.

شعاع

شعاع خارجہ کا رخ ہی بدلا ہوا ہے۔ اس کی وجہ منشور کی شکل ہے۔ جب بھی شعاع ایسی سطح میں داخل ہوتی ہے جو خارج ہونے والی سطح سے متوازی نہیں ہے تو شعاع اپنا رخ بدل لیتی ہے۔

Ray

The direction of the external ray is changed. This is because of the shape of the prism. Whenever the ray enters a surface that is not parallel to the surface from which it emerges, the ray changes its direction.

محدب اور مقعر عدسہ

محدب عدسے ایسے شفاف جسم کو کہتے ہیں جو درمیان سے موٹا اور کناروں سے پتلا ہوتا ہے۔ اس سے چھوٹی چیز بڑی نظر آتی ہے۔ پڑھنے والی عینک میں بھی محدب عد سے لگے ہوتے ہیں ۔

Convex and concave lenses

A convex lens is a transparent object that is thicker in the middle and thinner at the edges. It makes small objects appear larger. Reading glasses are also equipped with convex lenses.

متوازی شعاعیں

جب محدب عد سے میں سے متوازی شعاعیں گزرتی ہیں تو علاوہ مرکز سے گزرنے والی شعاعوں کے باقی تمام شعاعیں اندر کی طرف مڑ جاتی ہیں اور ایک ہی نقطے پر مرکوز ہو جاتی ہیں۔ اس نقطے کو عدسے سے کا پرنسپل فوکس کہتے ہیں۔ عدسے کے مرکز سے ماسکے کے فاصلے کو طول ماسکہ کہتے ہیں۔

Parallel Rays

When parallel rays pass through a convex lens, all rays except those passing through the center are bent inward and focus at a single point. This point is called the principal focus of the lens. The distance from the center of the lens to the focal point is called the focal length.

دریافت

کسی محدب عدسے کا فوکل لینتھ  آپ یوں معلوم کر سکتے ہیں۔ سورج کی شعاعوں کے راستے میں عدسہ پکڑیئے اور دوسری طرف شعاعوں کو کاغذ پر پڑنے دیں۔

Discovery

You can find the focal length of a convex lens like this: Hold the lens in the path of the sun’s rays and let the rays fall on paper on the other side.

روشنی

کاغذ کو آگے پیچھے کر کے ایسا مقام دریافت کریں جس پر روشنی کا دھبہ سب سے تیز ہو ۔ یہی فوکس ہے اور اس کا عد سے کے مرکز سے فاصلہ طول ماسکہ ہے۔ اگر تیز دھوپ میں دیر تک کا غذ اسی جگہ پڑے رہے تو وہ جلنے لگتا ہے کیونکہ روشنی کے علاوہ حرارت کی شعاعیں بھی اس پر (فوکس ) مرکوز ہوتی ہیں۔

Light

Move the paper back and forth to find the spot where the light is sharpest. This is the focus and its distance from the center of the lens is the focal length. If food is left in the sun for a long time, it will start to burn because in addition to light, heat rays are also focused on it (focus).

شعاعوں کو محدب

اب ایک چھوٹا سا تجربہ دیکھئے نسبتا اندھیرے کمرے کی کھڑ کی کھولئے اس میں سے داخل ہونے والی شعاعوں کو محدب عدسے مثلا پڑھنے والی عینک کے شیشے پر پڑنے دیجئے اور اس کے پیچھے سفید کاغذ پکڑئیے۔ کاغذ کو آگے پیچھے کر کے ایسا مقام ڈھونڈ یئے کہ اس پر باہر کا منظر صاف نظر آئے ۔

Convex rays

Now try a small experiment. Open the window of a relatively dark room and let the rays entering it fall on a convex lens, such as a reading glass, and hold a white paper behind it. Move the paper back and forth to find a position where the outside view is clearly visible.

دور کی چیزوں کا عکس

دور کی چیزوں کا عکس چھو ٹا اور الٹا بنتا ہے۔ قریب کی چیزوں کا عکس کیسا ہوتا ہے؟ کھٹرکی بند کر موم بتی محدب عدسے کے کافی فاصلے پر رکھئے اور دوسری طرف اس کا عکس  کاغذ پر ڈالئے یہ بھی چھوٹا اور الٹا ہو گا۔ اب موم بتی کو قریب لائیے۔

Image of distant objects

The image of distant objects is small and inverted. What about the image of nearby objects? Close the lens and place the candle at a considerable distance from the convex lens and on the other side, place its image on the paper. It will also be small and inverted. Now bring the candle closer.

عکس کا سائز

عکس کا سائز اور مقام نوٹ کیجئے۔ پہلے تو الٹا عکس چھوٹا بڑا ہو جائے طول مارکہ سے دوگنے فاصلے پر اصل کے برابر ہوگا ۔ موم بتی کو ما سکے تک لانے پر الٹا عکس  بڑا ہوتا ہے ۔ پرنسپل فوکس سے کم فاصلے پر رکھے ہوئے جسم کا کاغذ پر کوئی عکس نہیں بنتا ۔

Image Size

Note the size and position of the image. At first the inverted image becomes smaller and larger, and at a distance of twice the length of the mark it will be equal to the original. When the candle is brought close to the mirror, the inverted image becomes larger. No image is formed on the paper of an object placed at a distance less than the principal focus.

حقیقی عکس 

آخری صورت میں اگر آپ کا غذ کو ہٹا کر عدسے میں خود دیکھئے تو آپ کو ایک بڑا اور سیدھا عکس نظر آئے گا۔ ایسا عکس جو نظر آتا ہے لیکن پردے پر نہیں پڑ سکتا (مجازی عکس ) کہلاتا ہے۔ پردے پر پڑنے والی عکس حقیقی کہلاتا ہے۔ یہی نوٹ کیجئے کہ موم بتی کو ماسکے کے قریب لانے میں عکس دور ہو جاتا ہے۔

Real Image

Finally, if you remove your food and look at yourself through the lens, you will see a large and upright image. An image that is visible but cannot fall on the screen is called a virtual image. The image that falls on the screen is called a real image. Note that the image moves away as you move the candle closer to the mask.
