بچہ پیدائش سے قبل اور پیدائش کے بعد سب سے زیادہ اپنی ماں سے متاثر ہوتا ہے۔ پیدائش سے قبل کے عرصے میں بھی وہ محض ایک غیر متحرک وجود نہیں ہوتا بلکہ اپنی ماں کے مزاج ، جذبات ، دواؤں کے استعمال، کار کردگی، خواہشات صحت اور ماحول سے بہت متاثر ہوتا ہے۔ ماں کس قسم کی دواؤں کی عادی ہے۔ تعلیم یافتہ یا ان پڑھ ہے؟ اس کی خوراک، اس کی عمومی صحت، جذباتی پختگی، یا ہیجانی کیفیت یا کسی نشہ آور دوا کا استعمال وغیرہ سب بچے کی جسمانی ساخت اور ذہنیت کو بے حد متاثر کرتے ہیں۔ غرض وراثت فرد کی شخصیت کا ایک خاکہ متعین کر دیتی ہے اور یوں شخصیت کی اولین اینٹ اس کے ہاتھوں سے رکھی جاتی ہے۔ اس کو تبدیل کرنا یا مرضی کے مطابق متعین کرنا ممکن نہیں۔
